Tourism Roadshow
15 local businesses attended the Tourism Roadshow over the past two weeks in Llanelli and Newcastle Emlyn, meeting 1 to 1 with the tourism development team and other officers from business, licencing and event support.
The next roadshow date is 31 January in Ammanford library and you can book your slot now. Spaces are limited due to venue capacity so make sure you book your appointment. Sessions are bookable in advance and available one on one or in a group.

Coleg Sir Gâr become lastest Tourism Ambassadors
The current year group of students studying Tourism at Coleg Sir Gâr have undertaken the bronze level online modules to become the latest set of Ambassadors aiming to improve linger time and spend across the county.
You can join the students and 300 others that have already improved their knowledge of places to visit by taking a few of these fun, free and informative online modules (from culture to coast).

Martin Clunes and ITV return to Llandovery
Martin Clunes and a crew of 90 were back visiting Llandovery in November to wrap up filming for the new ITV1 drama series airing in 2024. County Council officers work with film and TV companies looking to bring their productions to the area - not just to help shine a spotlight on the county, but so that the county’s businesses and hospitality sector can benefit economically (a 2021 film was estimated to have boosted the local economy by £750,000).

Marketing actions increase awareness
A number of partnerships have been put in place to attract additional visitors over the winter season. With funding support from the UK Government’s Levelling Up fund, digital and print promotions have been confirmed with 3 of the UK’s leading subscription magazines -Coast, BBC Countryfile and The Great Outdoors targeting their combined readership of over 400,000.

Carbon Monoxide in visitor accommodation sector
Our Public Protection team is encouraging accommodation providers to have their heating system checked and to ensure a carbon monoxide detector is installed in their visitor facilities. Carbon monoxide can be given off by appliances that burn particular fuels (such as gas, coal, wood or oil) if the appliance isn’t working properly, a blockage or the room isn’t properly ventilated.

Give your view on change to school holidays in Wales
A consultation has opened on changing the school calendar, so breaks are spread out more evenly, including a 2-week half term autumn break. These changes would be made from September 2025, meaning schools would get a two-week break in October 2025 and a five-week summer break in 2026.
