How to Submit an Audit Notice to the Copyright Office

To submit an audit notice to the Office, it must be emailed as a PDF to the Office of the General Counsel at [email protected]. The notice must include the following basic information:

• Name(s) of the party(ies) commencing the audit;
• Name(s) of the party(ies) to be audited;
• Period(s) of time to be audited;
• Date of submission to the Office; and
• Name, title, and signature (which may be in electronic form) of the authorized representative(s) submitting the notice on behalf of the party(ies) commencing the audit.

The Office does not routinely review audit notices for compliance. The posting of an audit notice on this webpage does not mean that the Office has approved the notice or that the notice is valid. While this webpage is updated regularly, it is not updated in real time. The absence of a notice from this page does not necessarily mean it was not received by the Office.
