About

Redwood Highway between Cave Junction and the California border is damaged and cracking in many areas. The section of highway between the Applegate River and the border has seen many fatal and serious injury crashes in recent years. This project will address both problems.

The project will grind and pave U.S. 199 from Cave Junction to O’Brien (milepost 29.44 to 36) and apply a chip seal from O’Brien to the California border (milepost 36 to 41.6).

Safety improvements include:

  • Rumble strips and enhanced guardrail delineation.
  • Solar-powered speed feedback signs, facing both directions at Kerby and Selma.
  • Advance flashers with side street vehicle activation at Riverbanks Road (MP 7.1) and Deer Creek Road (MP 20.2)
  • Passive solar-powered advance flashers northbound at Rocky Dale Road (MP 29.6) and southbound at Round Prairie Road (MP 10.0).
