Gov. Beshear: State Donates Property To Support Emergency Management in Kenton County

4.515-acre property will stage emergency vehicles, emergency supplies and training activities

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Oct. 18, 2023) – Today, Gov. Andy Beshear announced his administration will donate to the Kenton County Fiscal Court 4.515 acres at 4111 Madison Pike in Covington, which will be used as a consolidation area for emergency response vehicles, a point of distribution for emergency supplies for large scale emergency events and possible training activities.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet no longer needed the property and determined this transfer was in the best interest of Kentuckians.

“My top priority as Governor is keeping Kentucky families safe. We’ve gotten through tornadoes, floods, ice storms and polar plunges together, and now, we must make sure every community stays prepared to respond in an emergency,” Gov. Beshear said. “That’s exactly why we’re donating this property in Kenton County today and why we’ll keep supporting our brave first responders across the state.”

“Kenton County appreciates the commonwealth working with the community as it re-positions emergency assets to a shared site so they can be utilized more effectively when needed,” Judge/Executive Kris Knochelmann said.

“This property will greatly improve our emergency response and point of distribution capabilities,” said Steve Hensley, director of Kenton County Homeland Security and Emergency Management. “Obtaining this property will give us the ability to securely house and maintain our equipment in one central location, which will improve our ability to respond quickly throughout the county. This will, without question, improve emergency response services for all of the residents.”
