Connecting Texas Veterans to Higher Education and Technical Training Opportunities

The Texas Veterans Commission serves as the State Approving Authority (SAA) under the authority of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. The Veterans Education Department approves all programs for Chapters 30, 31, 33, 35, 1606, and 1607 federal educational benefits. Through an approval process, the SAA ensures that institutions and employers are in compliance with federal guidelines and are qualified to provide training.

In addition to the SAA, the Veterans Education Department also houses the state authority on the Texas Hazlewood Act.
