Construction Closures
Stone Arch Bridge
On April 15, 2024, the Stone Arch Bridge will close for repairs and preservation work. The closure is necessary to keep the public and crews safe during the work.
Until spring 2025, the St. Anthony Main side of the Stone Arch Bridge will be closed, but the Downtown side of the bridge will be open. People will be able to walk or bike to the middle of the bridge and turn around at the closure. Work is expected to be complete by spring 2026.
While this closure is in place, pedestrians and bicyclists can use the new protected pathways on the Third Avenue Bridge to cross the Mississippi River. This is a Minnesota Department of Transportation project. Please visit MnDOT Stone Arch Bridge Repair page for details.
Main Street SE
Main Street SE is scheduled to close between Merriam Street and 1st Avenue NE beginning April 15, 2024 and ending May 24, 2024. The closure is necessary for a trail project in the area.
The existing trail on the south side of Main Street between Merriam and Hennepin will be rebuilt and a new trail between Hennepin Avenue and 1st Avenue NE will be added.
Motorized vehicles will be detoured to University Avenue and bikes and walkers will need to use the north sidewalk along Main Street.

West Minnehaha Parkway
The two-block, westbound one-way section of W Minnehaha Parkway from Colfax Avenue S to Emerson Avenue S is scheduled to close April 24-25.
The closure is necessary for City of Minneapolis Public Works to perform water main repairs at Dupont Avenue S. Traffic will be detoured to W 51st Street. Trails will remain open through this area.
East River Parkway
East River Parkway is scheduled to close between Arlington Street and SE Delaware Street for up to two weeks beginning Monday, May 13.
The closure is necessary for a contractor hired by the University of Minnesota to upgrade storm sewer work connections to Fraser Hall.
