Power of a Job: The Information Technology Services Division (ITSD) manages, develops supports and maintains the agency's computer systems, web technologies, network and data communications, and the data warehouse.  It also provides technical assistance for installation and operations of the Agency computers and software.
 
We are looking for an IT Customer Support Technician to be a member of our Technical Solutions and Identity & Access Management team. In this role you will be providing computer, software, application, telephone, and mobile device technology support for all ESD staff, partners and employers. Your customer service expertise and technical knowledge will ensure timely delivery of services, successful resolution of incidents and service requests, coordination of solutions with other IT support groups, along with timely, interactive, and supportive customer communication enterprise wide.

Duties

As an IT Customer Support Technician, you will be responsible for providing technical and end user support to customers for multiple desktop applications, devices, and accounts, as well as access and connectivity to network resources. Your support in these areas will ensure our customers and stakeholders have the tools and services they need to access mission critical applications. You will also perform active directory administration to maintain and organize user and device objects.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
Associate Degree in Information Technology or closely related field AND two (2) years IT experience consulting, installing and/or maintaining IT Infrastructure devices and PCs/laptops/tables and providing general technical support in IT.

OR a combination of education and/or relevant IT experience equating to 4 years.

In addition, the most successful candidate will have experience with the following:
 

  • Information technology experience such as analyzing, designing, installing hardware, telecommunications, or network infrastructure equipment or providing customer or technical support in information technology.
  • Experience with SCCM, MS Active Directory, MS Windows operating systems and MS Office suite.
  • Experience and knowledge of PC hardware and peripherals
  • Experience and knowledge of networking technology to include switches, LAN, WAN, Enterprise systems (e.g. DHCP, DNS Active Directory, SCCM, Exchange).

Preference may be given to those who not only meet the minimum qualifications, but also have the following:
  • Two years of information technology service desk or call center experience.
  • Two years of experience using an electronic ticketing system for incidents, work orders, change requests and service requests.
  • One year of troubleshooting and problem resolution for mission critical, enterprise wide computing environment.
  • Certification in ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library)
  • Experience with PowerShell.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with and among technical and non-technical staff.
  • Demonstrated history as a positive team player that shares ideas, solutions, and information with teammates.

Insurance Benefits

Retirement and Deferred Compensation
 
State Employees are members of the Washington Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS).  New employees have the option of two employer contributed retirement programs.  For additional information, check out the Department of Retirement Systems' web site.
 
Employees also have the ability to participate in the Deferred Compensation Program (DCP).  This is a supplemental retirement savings program (similar to an IRA) that allows you control over the amount of pre-tax salary dollars you defer as well as the flexibility to choose between multiple investment options.
 
Vacation (Annual Leave)
 
You begin accruing vacation starting your first month of employment. Since we value your loyalty, the amount of vacation you can accrue increases the longer you work with us. Washington State supports members of the armed forces with 21 days paid military leave per year. Vacation accrues for full-time employees per WAC 357-31-165.
