Summary

This framework action proposes to implement the Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council’s recent recommendation to increase the recreational and commercial minimum size limit for Gulf migratory group cobia from 32 inches to 36 inches in Gulf waters off Florida.  The purpose of this framework amendment is to reduce fishing mortality on Gulf cobia in response to fisher’s concerns about the stock based on a recent decrease in harvest rates in waters under the Gulf Council’s jurisdiction.
