COVID-19 Vaccine Administration Rate Increase

On March 15, 2021 the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services announced an increase to the reimbursement for COVID-19 vaccine administration, as part of the American Rescue Plan Act

The new rate for the COVID-19 vaccine administration codes 0001A, 0002A, 0011A, 0012A, and 0031A will be $37.29, which reflects 100% of Medicare’s regional rate applicable to Maine. At this time, we are working to configure our system at the new rate, which will be retroactive to dates of service starting March 15, 2021.

We will notify you when the system has been updated. In the meantime, you may hold your claims. Otherwise, you will need to adjust any claims for dates of service on or after March 15, 2021 in order to receive the increased reimbursement.

Clarification of Assessment for MaineCare Benefits Manual (MBM) Section 17 Community Support Services

This is an update on the Adult Needs and Strengths Assessment (ANSA) in Section 17, Community Support Services.

The Department has determined the ANSA is no longer a viable option for assessment and treatment planningWe plan to remove the ANSA requirement from the MBM, and in the interim, we will not enforce the requirement that providers complete the ANSA.

If you have questions or need assistance, please contact Provider Relations Specialist, Jane Brann.
