About this event

Please join the Federal School Safety Clearinghouse on Thursday, June 24 at 3:00 PM EDT for an informational webinar on mitigating the threat of school violence as the U.S. “returns to normal” from the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond.

Representatives from the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Office of Intelligence and Analysis and the DHS Center for Prevention Programs and Partnerships will discuss the recently released public awareness bulletin on the potential risk factors and indicators for targeted violence in schools as students return to campus this fall.

The webinar will cover the current threat environment, major trends, and risk factors as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic; the development of comprehensive local prevention frameworks to mitigate the threat of school violence; and an overview of existing Federal government resources available for schools to utilize in this heightened risk environment. The session will include a question and answer period for participants to engage directly with DHS staff.

The Federal School Safety Clearinghouse is a federal government interagency collaboration comprised of the Departments of Education, Health and Human Services, Homeland Security, and Justice to provide a comprehensive and centralized location for federal school safety resources. The Clearinghouse reviews, collects, and distributes guidance, tools, best practices, and actionable recommendations to improve safety and security within school communities. The DHS Office of Intelligence and Analysis (I&A) manages the department-wide processes for coordinating and executing the intelligence cycle at both the federal and local levels. By integrating its capabilities with those of other DHS Components, I&A enhances threat identification, mitigation and response across the Department's mission areas. Additionally, I&A formulates and implements key strategies and initiatives that address critical barriers to information sharing.

The DHS Center for Prevention Programs and Partnerships (CP3) supports communities across the United States to prevent individuals from radicalizing to violence and intervene when individuals have already radicalized to violence.
