Keep the Island safe

Thank you for all you have done so far to keep the Island safe. Please keep going.

On Monday evening Boris Johnson confirmed that Step Four of easing restrictions, which had been set for 21 June, would be put off until 19 July.

It's difficult for all of us, but it is more important than ever that we do whatever we can to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Please remember the essentials:

Simon Bryant, the council's director of public health, said: "The delay in the easing of the lockdown roadmap is needed to enable more people to get vaccinated.

"We can’t afford for cases to increase. That’s why, even when everyone wants to get back to normal, it’s more important than ever that we remember hands, face, space, fresh air.

"Running alongside these daily actions we need to get regular LFT tests when we don’t have symptoms, self-isolate and get tested immediately when we do, and take up the vaccine when it’s offered.

"Every single act of care and caution keeps the virus on the back foot and every time someone does those simple basic things they are playing their part in countering COVID. Please keep it up."

Self Isolation support

Self-isolate, don't hesitate

As lockdown eases, there are more opportunities for everyone to get out and see each other again. This also increases the chance of transmitting the virus and therefore having to self-isolate.

It is so important that you self-isolate when required, to protect those around you.

We understand there may be a lot of stresses that come with self-isolation like finances, accessing medicine and food or walking your dog (just to name a few). Please don't let this put you off, support is available.

If you're worried about money because you've been asked to self-isolate or you need to look after a child who is self-isolating, check if you're eligible for financial support.

If you need help, please ask. Our COVID-19 helpline can help you. Call (01983) 823600 or email contact.centre@iow.gov.uk
