My Reemployment Plan Program

The Kansas Legislature passed HB 2196, and revised in HB 2703, the implementation of the My Reemployment Plan (MRP) program. With few exceptions, any claimant who receives three (3) weeks of unemployment payments is automatically a part of MRP. Once you are eligible for MRP, you will receive an email or letter via USPS with instructions on the steps you need to take in order to remain eligible for UI benefits.

MRP claimants are required to complete the following items within fourteen (14) days of being notified of MRP eligibility:

  1. Create or upload your resume in KANSASWORKS.com. The resume must be published so employers can find you.
  2. Complete the Job Search Plan, which can be found in your KANSASWORKS.com account.

All claimants have a KANSASWORKS.com account created upon filing an initial claim. If you forgot your username or password, try the retrieval methods available here.

If you do not complete these items, KANSASWORKS is required to report that information to the Kansas Department of Labor (KDOL). KDOL is then required to deny UI benefits. When you complete the required pieces, KANSASWORKS will report that information to KDOL and will make a re-determination.

Claimants that fall under the following categories are exempt from MRP:

  • Current participants in the Shared Work program
  • Current participants in the Trade Adjustment Assistance/Trade Readjustment Assistance (TAA/TRA) program
  • Claimants on a temporary layoff with a return-to-work date. However, these claimants will only be exempted from MRP the first 8 consecutive weeks of benefits.
  • Claimants currently employed
  • Current participants in Reemployment Services and Eligibility Assessment (RESEA)
  • Claimants that are active members in good standing of a placement union
  • Claimants engaged in an approved training program

Any questions regarding this program should be directed to KANSASWORKS.com Live Chat. For additional support, contact your local Workforce Center.
