Intro to Printmaking Workshop – Día de Muertos

Conducted by Matt Bagley

WORKSHOP DATE
Saturday, August 13, 2022 (12-3 PM)

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
The art of printmaking will be the focus of this year’s Día de Muertos exhibition at the Bath House Cultural Center (https://bathhouse.dallasculture.org/muertoscfe22/).  If you are an artist who wishes to submit entries for the show but lack printmaking knowledge or skills, this workshop is for you. Renowned local printmaker Matt Bagley of Iron Frog Press will teach an introductory printmaking class at the Bath House.

In this workshop, you will learn the skills to complete an edition of color relief prints, which include transfer methods, basic cutting techniques, and registration methods. To ensure you get the most out of this workshop, you will need to contact the instructor (after you receive a confirmation of your registration) to discuss your imagery. If you cannot complete your print during the workshop, Matt will have sign-up times available at his studio afterward.

CLASS LOCATION
The workshop will take place in the lobby of the Bath House Cultural Center, at 521 E. Lawther Dr., Dallas, TX 75218 (White Rock Lake).

SUPPLIES NEEDED
Materials will be supplied by the instructor, but students are encouraged to bring their own drawing and printmaking supplies, if they wish.

HEALTH AND SAFETY
All the students are encouraged to maintain social distancing, to the best of their ability, and wear face covering while they are in class (unless the instructor decides that it is safe to work without one).

CLASS REGISTRATION
This workshop is free, but space is limited to 15 students, ages 18 and older.  The students will be registered on a first-come-first served basis.
