Essex County Council Broadband Survey & BDUK Public Review

Get Your Address In Future Superfast Essex Plans

Over the last few years the Superfast Essex programme has already made a big difference, with one in every six addresses across the county able to access superfast broadband as a result of our work.

We are now working with the UK Gigabit programme to plan our next steps and how we support the deployment of gigabit-capable networks. To do this, we asked for your help in order to validate the information given to us by the commercial broadband networks.

Superfast Essex ran a broadband survey (which has now closed) from 18/03/21 – 03/05/21 to identify the current broadband needs of residents in Essex. This survey complements the BDUK Public Review mentioned below.

BDUK Launches Public Review in Essex – Now Closed

Building Digital UK (BDUK) launched a Public Review in Essex (Thursday 18th March 2021).

Having asked broadband networks operators for their current coverage and plans at the end of 2020, BDUK offered the public a further opportunity to comment and potentially correct the information collected regarding gigabit-capable broadband across Essex (including Southend and Thurrock).

The consultation, which closed on Monday May 3rd 2021, 9am and is part of the wider UK Gigabit Programme announced by the government, with the target of reaching a minimum of 85% gigabit-capable coverage by 2025 with and an ambition to get as close to 100% as possible soon after.
