A Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) identifies the public place and prohibits specified things being done in the restricted area.

Following on from public consultation, East Hampshire District Council has approved a public space protection order (PSPO) to update existing dog byelaws into a single order.

It requires dog owners in the district to clean up after their dogs and dispose of the waste responsibly. It also enables officers to issue fixed penalty notices if a dog owner is not adhering to these rules.

The PSPO also includes the exclusion of dogs from enclosed children’s play areas.

Finally, the PSPO makes it an offence not to put a dog on a lead when instructed to by an officer authorised by the council for that purpose.
