Final surfacing for Forder Valley Interchange continues

Graphic showing diversion routes for overnight closures on Leigham Roundabout and Forder Valley Road from 18 July

There will be changes to the overnight closures on and around Leigham Roundabout next week as final surfacing work for the Forder Valley Interchange scheme continues.

From Monday 18 July teams will be working on the Delamere Road side of the roundabout, during which time:

  • the northbound side of Forder Valley Road will be closed from Leigham Roundabout to Novorossiysk Road
  • Delamere Road will be closed for a short stretch in both directions
  • Leigham Roundabout will be closed from the A38 westbound on-slip to the northbound side of Forder Valley Road.
  • both of the A38 off-slips to Leigham Roundabout will be closed.

This phase will take four nights (7pm to 6am) and the only available movements on the roundabout will be:

  • from Forder Valley Road southbound to Longbridge Road, Marsh Mills or the A38
  • from Longbridge Road to Marsh Mills or the A38
  • from Marsh Mills to the A38 westbound.

The following diversions will be in place:

  • Access to Forder Valley Road from the roundabout will be via the A38 to Manadon, Tavistock Road, Budshead Way, Fort Austin Avenue and Forder Valley Road West
  • Access to and from Delamere Road will be via Eggbuckland Road, Church Hill, Fort Austin Avenue, Crownhill Village, Tavistock Road and Manadon Roundabout
  • Access to Leigham Roundabout from the A38 will be signed via Manadon Roundabout, Tavistock Road, Budshead Way, Fort Austin Avenue and Forder Valley Road West.

Once the work on this section of the roundabout is complete, Forder Valley Road will be closed overnight in both directions between Leigham Roundabout and the petrol station. This will be for around four weeks for final surfacing, lining and work to install street lighting and traffic signals. (Further details will follow next week.)

Thanks for bearing with us while these final phases of work are carried out.

When complete, the Forder Valley Interchange scheme will improve traffic flow by upgrading and extending the short merge from Leigham Roundabout onto Forder Valley Road and providing an additional lane from Forder Valley Road onto the roundabout. Walking and cycling facilities are also being upgraded.
