Nearly every Lincoln County capital project proposed at this year’s legislative session was included in House Bill 5006 set to head to the floor today (Friday) for a final vote.
The bill is expected to pass and head to Gov. Kate Brown’s desk next week. If signed, HB 5006 would bring more than $40 million in funding for the various projects to Lincoln County.
“Everything on this list is transformative and are all going to save lives, create jobs and improve livability for the county,” State Rep. David Gomberg said. “I have not seen this kind of investment in Lincoln County ever before.”
The two largest Lincoln County projects listed in the bill include the remediation of the Big Creek Dams, which was awarded $14 million, and $16.8 million for two projects to help repair the water infrastructure at Panther Creek after the Echo Mountain Complex fire.
According to Gomberg, he and Sen. Dick Anderson worked closely this legislative session to get several Lincoln County projects funded, including restoring the docks at the Depoe Bay harbor, renovating the water tank at Waldport and funding the Lincoln City Cultural Center plaza renovation project.
The following are the projects and funding amounts listed in HB 5006 as of Thursday morning, though some items may receive additional funding from other committees in the legislative session:
• $2.4 million for the Port of Toledo sewer extension;
• $974,000 to renovate the Waldport water tank;
• $500,000 for a well repair in north Lincoln County;
• $750,000 for the Siletz Tribal Arts and Heritage Society;

• $2.5 million for the D River Welcome Center in Lincoln City;
