Excessive Heat for the Southwest; Showers and Thunderstorms for Portions of the Plains and East Coast

Showers and thunderstorms are expected across the eastern two-thirds of the country today along and ahead of a cold front. Some of these storms may result in isolated incidences of severe weather, including flash flooding.
