46 Migrants Discovered in Smuggling Attempt

UVALDE, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to Del Rio Sector’s Uvalde Station encountered 46 smuggled migrants in the back of a tractor-trailer belly-dump rig, March 23.

At approximately 7:45 a.m., Uvalde Police Department Officers contacted the Uvalde Border Patrol Station for assistance following a vehicle stop that occurred on Highway 90 East, near Uvalde. Upon further investigation, agents identified 46 subjects who were illegally present in the United States , concealed inside the belly of the trailer.

The driver, a U.S. citizen, was arrested by the Uvalde Police Department and will be charged with human smuggling. The smuggled migrants were processed in accordance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection policies.
