The 2030 Census FRN comment period has closed. For updated information about the comments received and next steps, check out ”2030 Census Federal Register Notice Update: Your Ideas Are Important to Us."
Planning for the 2030 Census – the 25th in U.S. history – is underway. To develop the operational design, we will factor in past census experiences, your feedback, and new research. We will also consider evolving technologies and the changing world around us.
To meet this goal, we are focused on five areas of research to help us build our operational design: data collection, group quarters enumeration, integrating data collection and processing in real time, streamlining operational infrastructure, and continuous data collection and aggregation.
Not only are we conducting research and testing internally, we are also requesting input from the public through a Federal Register Notice (FRN). The FRN requests ideas on these five topics - reaching and motivating everyone to respond, technology, new data sources, how we contact respondents, and respondent support services. We have received over 2,000 comments so far.
We want to make sure everyone’s ideas are heard and hope that you join the conversation. Check out this presentation to learn more about the feedback we have already received and how to submit your suggestions. The presentation also provides an overview of the topics the Census Bureau is seeking feedback about, the research being conducted to prepare for the next census, the planning timeline, and the public comments reviewed so far.
You can provide input until November 15, 2022.
