School Board Action Required: Information 

Summary/Background: 

Per Regulation 3202, Approval of New Courses and Deletion of or Change to Existing Courses, the School Board has final approval for all courses to be added to or deleted from the list of system wide approved course offerings.  The FCPS Course Review Committee met on October 11,2022 to review proposals for new course offerings and requests for existing course designation changes for the 2023-24 school year. The committee members heard presentations from the central office or school personnel who put the request forward. Course curriculum and course sequence were considered when evaluating a new course that has an associated grade weight. The recommendations of the committee are attached for new courses and course designation change requests for the 2023-24 school year.

Recommendation: 

That the School Board approve changes to the list of middle and high school course offerings for the 2023-2024 school year, as recommended by the Course Review Committee, and as detailed in the agenda item.
