The news comes from a study by the University of Michigan Poverty Solutions that analyzes changes in Detroit's housing values.

It is estimated that the net housing value of Black homeowners grew from $3.4 billion in 2014 to $6.2 billion in 2022 - that's an 80 percent increase following the City's bankruptcy. Research also found that growth was dispersed in neighborhoods throughout the city and not concentrated in the downtown and Midtown areas.

This illustrates how far Detroit's housing market has come since 2014.

The Detroit Wayne Integrated Health Network (DWIHN) officially opened its 707 Crisis Care Center. What was once the administrative offices has been converted and repurposed with industry leading design and technologies to serve Detroit and Wayne County's most vulnerable population.

With 32 beds, the 24-hour center will provide specialized care for individuals in a mental health crisis. It will house all services under one roof, including Crisis Walk-ins, Crisis Stabilization, and a peer-led program called B.E.S.T. (Building Empowered Supportive Transition).

DWIHN manages specialty services for individuals with or at risk for serious emotional disturbance, severe mental illness, intellectual and developmental disabilities, substance use, and MIChild beneficiaries.

The 707 Crisis Care Center is located at 707 West Milwaukee. For services, call the 24-Hour Helpline: 1-800-241-4949.

It's Detroit, of course we've invested 1B into affordable housing!

Since 2019, 71 multi-family housing projects have brought 4,648 units to Detroit. Of those, 1,612 are new constructions, while 3,036 existing affordable housing units were preserved through renovation, with the affordable rates locked in for residents for at least 30 years.

Among the nearly 5,000 units that make up the 1B investment, 895 have rents affordable to households earning 30% or less of AMI and 1,381 units for those earning 50% or less of AMI.

The celebration brought 200 developers and funding partners to the site of another affordable housing development on East Jefferson, right off the Detroit River. Led by Detroit developer Amin Irving, construction starts in two weeks and will provide 150 affordable housing units.

The projects, totaling $1,009,177,000, were made possible by City, State, Federal, private funders, and developers.

At the announcement, Mayor Mike Duggan thanked all the partners and gave a special shout-out to the Detroit City Council, who helped roll out a $203 million affordable housing plan in 2022.

"This is what's happened when you have a Mayor and a City Council who have, for ten years, been lock-step on this issue... this is the way we're going to deliver results."
