Knowl Park House – Build update January 2023

Here’s the latest from our new dementia day care facility build in Mirfield.

What’s been happening?

The foundations for the new building are now complete and the steel frame is currently being installed. You’ll be able to see the size and scale of our new dementia day care facility once the frame is completed by the end of the month.

Digging is also underway for the attenuation tank.  The tank will help prevent flooding by storing water in the event of heavy rainfall.

A sample panel of the external stone has also been constructed and you can see this from outside the site.  This is how the outside of the building will look when it’s completed.

What’s coming up?

Next job will be to start construction of the sleeper walls which will support the beam and block flooring.  Once the flooring is complete contractors will start work on the roof of the new building.

What is beam and block?

Beam and block is a construction method to support flooring.  It is made of cast concrete and is simply, as the name suggests, beams and blocks.  The beams are laid in parallel and the blocks are placed to infill between them, creating a continuous surface.  The beam and block flooring work will start in February.
