The state has a variety of no-cost resources including training programs, grants and career exploration tools. Whether you’re aspiring to begin a new career or want to pivot from an existing job, these resources can help you get started.

Tuition-Free Certification

The Workforce Ready Grant pays tuition and fees for short-term skills-based training and certificate programs in Indiana’s high-demand sectors such as information technology, health sciences, advanced manufacturing and more. A high school degree is required to get started.

Apprenticeships and Work-Based Learning

Work-based learning and apprenticeship opportunities are offered through employers or sponsors. Becoming an apprentice can help you fast-track your career goals and earn higher wages.

Did you know: 94% of apprentices who complete an apprenticeship program retain employment, with an average annual salary of $70,000.

College Financial Aid

Indiana has more than $400 million dollars in financial aid available each year to help make college affordable for full-time and part-time students. To find what financial aid you qualify for, you’ll need to fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Earn a High School Diploma / Equivalency

If life got in the way and you weren’t able to finish high school, Indiana has adult education programs that can get you to the finish line. The programs are offered in-person, online and sometimes even where you work. There is a proven increase in annual earnings (approximately $8,400). You can also earn an in-demand credential along with your high school degree, helping you achieve your goals faster.

Employer Training Grant

Employers in high-demand business sectors can be reimbursed up to $5,000 for each newly trained, current or new, full-time employee. There are currently over 100 occupations across six sectors that qualify.

Manufacturing Readiness Grant

Manufacturing Readiness Grants have helped manufacturers make innovative capital investments in smart manufacturing within their Indiana operations—leveraging technologies from advanced communications to cobots to the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and beyond.

Apprenticeships and Work-Based Learning

Attract and retain workers in today’s competitive labor market by offering work-based learning or an apprenticeship program. The state can help you register and start your program.

On-site Employer Training Opportunities
