Reminder: changes to annual heavy vehicle testing

We wanted to remind you that from Monday 29 April 2024, we will no longer be issuing paper certificates for heavy vehicles (HGV/PSVs) that have passed their annual test.

We are making this change to become more environmentally friendly.

We will still issue paper documentation for vehicles that fail the test for the time being.

What's next

Certificates will be able to be viewed, downloaded and printed freely from the MOT History Service (MOTH) throughout the year.

We’re asking that you welcome and implement these changes to your businesses. We will continue working with industry and frontline colleagues to ensure everyone is aware of these changes.

For more information, you can read more about the introduction of the paperless annual test in our blog post: Moving to a digital first approach in heavy vehicle testing – Moving On (blog.gov.uk)
