Neds to headline celebration of Stourbridge musical heritage.

We're delighted to announce that Stourbridge indie rock heroes Ned's Atomic Dustbin will play a headline gig at Stourbridge Town Hall as part of a new event called One Heart One Way.

One Heart One Way has been the motto emblazoned on Stourbridge's civic heraldry since 1917 and it speaks of a single-minded purpose that has characterised so many aspects of the town's history ever since, not least its musical heritage.

Stourbridge is a small town with a big heart and a strong, determined way!

One Heart One Way is a new all-day event, centred around Stourbridge Town Hall, co-ordinated by Dudley Borough Halls in collaboration with neighbouring venues and businesses, to celebrate the immense influence of music in the town, past and present. The event hopes to inspire a fresh wave of engagement in music lovers and players.

Founding members of 90s chart regulars Pop Will Eat Itself and The Wonder Stuff formed their bands from the pot-boiler of creativity powered by Stourbridge Art College at the time, inspiring Ned's Atomic Dustbin members from across the Black Country to meet, mingle and emerge from the pubs of Stourbridge, to play on airwaves and stages across the world.

Ned's singer, Jonn Penney, said:

"In terms of musical output and impact, Stourbridge is the mouse that roared!

"In the 90s, when our band broke through on the tails of Pop Will Eat Itself and The Wonder Stuff, the town was a crucible of creativity. I'd like to think that it still can be, if people feel engaged in a creative community.

"I wanted to get the ball rolling. I decided that sometimes you have to put your money where your mouth is, so here we are coming back to Stourbridge, where it all started, to shake things up again!"

Guest DJs from 6pm: Fliss Kitson (The Nightingales) and Andrew Wagstaff (Brum Radio's ‘Lost In The Supermarket with Mark Badgeman and The Wolf’).

The Art of the Soul will be serenading the public with piano versions of your favourite indie hits all afternoon and into the evening in Stourbridge Town Hall foyer.
