Off-gas homes in Herefordshire to benefit from free energy-saving upgrades
Herefordshire Council and Severn Wye are working in partnership to offer the Home Upgrade Grant scheme to hundreds of homes that are not on mains gas in Herefordshire.
The Home Upgrade Grant provides £7 million in government funding until March 2025. To pay for essential energy-saving home improvements aiming to help many households save money on their energy bills.
You can apply for fully funded energy efficiency improvements through the scheme if:
- You live in Herefordshire.
- You don’t have mains gas heating.
- You live in an inefficient property, with an Energy Performance Certificate of D, E, F or G.
- Your total household income is under £36,000 per year.

Severn Wye understand that every home is different, and a home energy expert will carry out a property survey to design the most effective improvements to make the biggest difference to the efficiency, comfort and cost of powering your home.
Households will benefit from a wide-range of energy-saving technologies and receive fully funded home upgrades worth tens of thousands of pounds. These could include insulation, solar panels, air source heat pumps and many households will be offered more than one energy efficient home upgrade that will make long term savings to their energy bills.
