We have a great opportunity in our Everett office for a Trade Act Case Manager (WSS4in training) with the ability to quickly build rapport with a diverse group of customers.

Our Trade Act Case Managers  are critical thinkers. They are able to analyze and interpret policies to creatively resolve our customers' concerns regarding their employment barriers. The work they do is critical to the achievement of the agencies' goals and direction by developing and providing comprehensive, customer-centered employment and training services.

As a Trade Act Case Manager, you will develop individual employment service plans and guide customers to effectively use employment and training programs and services. Your strong attention to detail and ability to communicate complex programs and policies to our diverse group of job seekers. A typical day will be anything but typical as you traverse through the constant moving pieces of case management with our clients.

What a typical day looks like:
  • Conduct group and individual orientations, and workshops.
  • Supply program specific information about services, benefits, and eligibility.
  • Facilitate job preparation activities to include job club services and workshops; provide labor market information.
  • Develop individual employment service plans.
  • Guide customers to effectively use in employment and training programs and services.

This is an in-training opportunity and will be hired as a WorkSource Specialist 3, You will be required to successfully complete the training plan in order to promote to the next level of the series until the goal class of WorkSource Specialist 4 is reached.
Salary ranges for these levels are:
WorkSource Specialist 3: $40,152 - $52,536 annually depending on qualifications.
WorkSource Specialist 4: $44,184 – $57,948 annually depending on qualifications.
 

Qualifications

Required:

WorkSource Specialist 3:

  • A Bachelor's degree in social science, business administration or related field and two (2) years of professional experience in workforce development, social or human resource services, public relations, or professional public contact work*. 
OR 
  • One (1) year of experience as a WorkSource Specialist 2 within the Employment Security Department, or in an equivalent class with another state's Employment Security agency.  
OR 
  • A combination of education and/or relevant experience.
AND
  • The ability to travel on a daily or weekly basis to provide services to our customers and community partners.
 
WorkSource Specialist 4:
  • A Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of relevant experience in workforce development, social or human resource services, public relations, or public contact work*.
OR
  • One (1) year as a WorkSource Specialist 3 or equivalent class within the Employment Security Department, or another state's Employment Security agency
OR
  • A combination of education and/or relevant experience.
AND
  • The ability to travel on a daily or weekly basis to provide services to our customers and community partners.

Insurance Benefits

Retirement and Deferred Compensation
 
State Employees are members of the Washington Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS).  New employees have the option of two employer contributed retirement programs.  For additional information, check out the Department of Retirement Systems' web site.
 
Employees also have the ability to participate in the Deferred Compensation Program (DCP).  This is a supplemental retirement savings program (similar to an IRA) that allows you control over the amount of pre-tax salary dollars you defer as well as the flexibility to choose between multiple investment options.
 
Vacation (Annual Leave)
 
You begin accruing vacation starting your first month of employment. Since we value your loyalty, the amount of vacation you can accrue increases the longer you work with us. Washington State supports members of the armed forces with 21 days paid military leave per year. Vacation accrues for full-time employees per WAC 357-31-165.
