Individuals:

• The Earned Income Tax Credit is a tax credit for people who work, but don’t earn high incomes. If you qualify, you could pay less federal tax or no tax, even get a tax refund. To qualify, you must meet certain rules and file a tax return, even if you don’t owe any tax or didn’t earn enough money to require filing a return.
• Businesses: The Advance Earned Income Tax Credit provides businesses with an incentive to hire individuals from targeted groups having high unemployment rates or special employment needs. You can receive thousands of dollars in tax credits when you hire qualified members of targeted groups. Additionally, the Enterprise Zone enclosure lists other major tax and financial benefits for which you may be eligible. Many Southern California workers are not receiving their Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) benefits – so, we’re asking you to get this valuable information to your employees.
