2023 BRIDGE NY Program

Aerial view of Church Street Bridge

The Governor’s five-year Capital Program continues the BRIDGE NY program and at an increased funding level of $200M per year. Building upon our unparalleled investment in transforming New York’s transportation infrastructure, the State is making funding available for local governments to rehabilitate and replace bridges and culverts statewide. These strategic infrastructure investments will enhance the quality of life for residents and businesses in every region of the State and provide unprecedented support for making our State’s communities more resilient to the impacts of climate change. Making the State’s infrastructure more resilient not only enhances the safety and reliability of these structures, it facilitates regional and global economic competitiveness.

The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) is implementing the Bridge NY Program through the existing capital program planning process. This approach will continue to use the elements of the prior BRIDGE NY 2022 Program process.

The BRIDGE NY project request form is available to all municipalities authorized to receive and administer state and federal transportation funding. Awards will support all phases of project development, including design, right-of-way acquisition and construction. Assessments will be based on the structural condition of a bridge or culvert and its resiliency and significance based upon traffic volumes, detour considerations, the number and types of businesses served and the overall impact on commerce. Priority consideration may also be given to projects that provide benefits to Environmental Justice Communities.
