FOR THE LOVE OF TREES

A series of Friday afternoon talks hosted by the Forest and Woodland Association of Missouri and partners on the role of trees in our lives and how we can plant and care for them.

In the mood to spruce up your yard with trees and learn more about the many benefits they provide? Join us in a celebration of trees, including tree planting tips, tree selection, and tree benefits. These online programs are designed to help homeowners and other tree enthusiasts learn about trees. Each Friday in April a tree topic will be discussed starting with Missouri Arbor Day on April 2nd and ending with National Arbor Day on April 30th. All programs will run every Friday in April from 4:00 – 4:30 p.m. Be prepared for a program to run long if we have an enthusiastic crowd.

Friday, April 2 – Missouri Arbor Day: Join us for a brief history of Arbor Day and a demonstration of planting trees. We will discuss tree placement and take questions from participants about species of tree and tree care.

Friday, April 9 – Finding Peace, Health and Wellness in the Outdoors: The coronavirus pandemic has pushed people outdoors to enjoy nature. Nature, however, provides more than fun in the outdoors. Tune in to learn how nature can help energize and improve your health. This program will be best enjoyed in the shade of trees. A mobile device and good data connection are advised.

Friday, April 16 – Wood Enthusiast: Join two wood enthusiasts who have spent their careers working with Missouri wood and will share information on the variety of species they have worked with and projects created from them.

Friday, April 23 – Keep Your Trees Healthy: Gain a wealth of knowledge from a tree expert on the proper care of trees. This session will cover pruning, mulching, watering and common diseases to be on the lookout for.

Friday, April 30 – National Arbor Day – Favorite Trees: Learn from a variety of tree enthusiasts as they discuss their favorite trees and where they can be planted around your home. Learn about unique tree species, where they grow best and their growth characteristics.
