Valcour Island DMAP Application
The following is a digital application for a chance to draw deer management assistance program (DMAP) tags for Valcour Island, located on Lake Champlain in the towns of Peru and Plattsburgh, New York. The intent of this program is to reduce the deer population to mitigate damage to rare plant communities found on the island. DMAP tags are property-specific and may only be used on Valcour Island. Possession of the tags while deer hunting elsewhere is prohibited.

Participation in this program is a privilege and subject to the following rules/procedures:
The application period ends September 15.
Tags are valid for antlerless deer only.
Hunters awarded tags will be responsible for securing their own transportation.
Hunters awarded tags must comply with reporting requirements.
This program is not available for DEC employees or their immediate families.

A computer generated lottery will occur September 21, 2022. Tags will be mailed to awarded recipients immediately after the drawing. Those who are not awarded tags will be notified by email, or mail if an email address is not provided.

Failure to participate according to these rules will result in the revocation of your privilege this year and in following years. If there are any questions, please contact Regional Big Game Biologist, Jim Stickles (james.stickles@dec.ny.gov; 518-897-1367).
