About

OR 6 Study IconThe Wilson River Highway, OR 6, is a 48 mile rural road that connects Banks and Tillamook. It's a popular route for tourists and an important commercial connection between the Oregon Coast and the Portland metro area.

In recent years, safety has become an increasing concern for the local communities and people who use this route. As freight and recreational use has increased, so has the crash frequency and fatalities.

In response to these local concerns, the Oregon State Legislature passed House Bill 4053 to do a safety study. Findings of the study were submitted in fall 2023.

To understand needs along the corridor, we:

  • Gathered your feedback on existing problems.
  • Looked at issues related to safety, freight, operations and road conditions.

The final product is a complete study of the highway. It includes possible solutions and projects as well as estimated costs.

Schedule

The study is complete and has been submitted to the Oregon State Legislature for review.
