Centering Health in Education Learning Series

This virtual webinar series (Spanish version) is based on the document Centering Health and Wellbeing in Education, a resource co-developed by ODE and OHA. The webinar series launches Jan 10th 2024 and ends March 6th. The virtual series will showcase nine amazing partnerships that demonstrate the various collaborations , blended funding models and partnerships that districts, ESDs, and CBO's have developed in support of student health and wellbeing. Please share far and wide with your networks. The intended audience is school districts, ESDs, CBOs, Public Health and Behavioral health agencies. Please direct any questions to Nat Jacobs, Mental and Behavioral Health Education Leader

Community Engagement Learning Modules

The Community Engagement Modules developed by the Western Oregon University Teaching Research Institute, in collaboration with ODE, are designed to provide another avenue for Oregon educators to dive more deeply into the ODE Community Engagement Toolkit from a district leadership point of view. The online series offers videos, examples and oration of key elements embedded within the existing toolkit. Through engagement in this series you can expect to:
  • develop and fine-tune a stance, or vision, for community engagement in your district,
  • consider team members to lead for community engagement efforts,
  • review the Community Engagement Spectrum,
  • consider who to engage in your community, and
  • plan for deep hospitality, reciprocity and consider the culturally specific and safety needs for groups you or your team will engage with.
New Oregon Superintendents or Administrators, ESD Liaisons and/or teams newly assigned to lead for ongoing community engagement efforts will benefit from this content in context of ongoing engagement and relationship building and/or new planning. In addition, administrators already familiar with the ODE Community Engagement Toolkit may prefer this content in this delivery format.

There are four modules total within this Community Engagement Learning Modules series, each of which will take approximately 40 to 90 minutes to complete depending on your individual learning style, approach, and familiarity with the Toolkit. Individuals can participate in the content asynchronously, and teams or individuals consider the supplemental planning materials afterwards.

Early Indicator & Intervention Systems Professional Learning: A Lever for Student Success and School Improvement

Two different learning series will be offered during the 2023-24 school year - EIIS: Foundations for Student Success and EIIS at Middle and High School. Each of these learning series will be offered at no cost to Oregon public schools and districts. Designed and facilitated by Education NW and FHI360, these learning series will provide participants with resources and skills to expand and deepen EIIS best practices. Both series include synchronous and asynchronous sessions, as well as optional consultation with Facilitators. All sessions are virtual and districts and schools are encouraged to have four to six person teams of educators and leaders participate. Both learning series will be repeated several times during the 2023-24 school year and there may be more than one learning series group per session depending on the number of participants who register.

Please view the flyer for more information about the schedule for each learning series and registration links. To register your team for the learning series for the 2023-24 school year please complete the Registration Form.

Engaging Equity: Equitable Mindsets, Practices, and Systems

This professional learning series is being developed in partnership by the Oregon Department of Education (ODE) and WestEd.

The Engaging Equity professional learning series is made up of 4 clusters with a total of 18 individual modules. For more details, view the full scope and sequence for the professional learning series. Each module should take 60–90 minutes for the learner to complete. Cluster 1 - Racial Equity Foundations and Cluster 2 - Culturally Responsive and Sustaining Practice are available at this time. As additional clusters of modules are developed and released, they will be added to this page.

The content developed is open and available at no cost; however there may be some costs for participation, such as substitute costs for educators or extra-duty pay for extended day learning opportunities.

ODE highly recommends that groups engage in this learning together as cohorts or Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), with facilitation either from within their organization or, for Oregon Districts, with professional facilitation from WestEd. Clusters are available to download via Canvas (see above flyer for additional information).

If you are an Oregon school or district interested in having professional facilitation of this series for your learning group, please contact the Office of EII.
