Grandview Heights High School will be closed for the rest of the day on Monday after receiving an anonymous bomb threat.

The City of Grandview Heights said an emergency response plan has been activated after a bomb threat was reported around 10:15 a.m.

Students in grades 4-12 were evacuated to the Grandview Heights Library.

"First they told us to go into a lock down where they locked all the classrooms," Liam Murphy, a 7th grade student said. "Then a few minutes later they told us to evacuate to the library across the street. I was kind of confused because I didn’t know what was happening. They didn’t tell us at all at first. I found out through a text from a friend’s parent that it was a bomb threat."

Parents who are picking up students are asked to approach the library from the south on Ashland, turn right into the library parking lot, stay in their vehicle, and wait for an officer and staff member to bring their child to them. Drivers will exit right southbound on Oakland Avenue.

A Grandview Heights police officer said the threat was specifically for a device inside a vehicle near the school.

"It was kind of a heart sinking feeling," Murphy said. "It seemed very anxious and fast moving."

The Columbus Bomb Squad arrived at the scene and searched through vehicles. He gave it the all clear, police said.

School is canceled for the day as well as other activities as a precaution.
