Accelerating Learning in Mathematics
Zearn Math is currently being offered to Ohio schools as part of a statewide initiative. This initiative utilized one-time federal ESSER funds to provide Ohio districts and schools with free access to Zearn Math, a top-rated math learning platform, through the 2024-25 school year to provide differentiated math support for K-8 students.
As a part of the Department’s continued commitment to ensuring students catch up and move forward in math, a limited number of Zearn Math licenses will be available at no cost for the 2025-26 school year. As a part of the license, schools and districts will have access to Zearn Math’s K-8 math library of more than 1,000 digital lessons, teaching materials and educator training.
Zearn Math provides high-quality instructional materials, including digital math lessons with real-time, adaptive support that can be used flexibly across instructional times—including as a support in the core math block or during intervention time, tutoring, and after-school programming. Research from the pilot year of usage found that Ohio students who completed at least three grade-level Zearn Math lessons per week scored significantly higher on Ohio’s State Tests than similarly matched students who did not use Zearn.
District administrators are invited to apply by outlining their plans to meet the key implementation commitments essential for the program’s success. Funded schools and districts must establish goals for Zearn Math usage, ensuring dedicated time for Zearn each week, training, and regular student progress monitoring. Select schools may also be eligible to receive free, virtual coaching and onsite training from the Zearn team to support implementation. Districts can indicate their interest in receiving Zearn coaching in the application.
The application will be available starting in mid-March and submissions will be approved on a rolling basis. The application will close once the limited funding has been allocated. Licenses will be awarded on a first come, first serve basis.
