HAWAII NATIONAL PARK, Hawaiʻi – Visiting Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park is now more efficient for visitors who plan ahead and buy a digital site pass on the www.Recreation.gov website at no extra cost.

The pass must be purchased and downloaded to a computer or mobile device, and printing the pass prior to your park arrival is recommended due to limited connectivity. The digital pass can be purchased up to six months ahead of arrival. Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park is the first fee-charging national park in Hawaiʻi to offer the new digital site pass option.

The following passes are now available for Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park on Recreation.gov

•  Private vehicle ($30, valid for seven days)
•  Motorcycle ($25, valid for seven days)
•  Individual pedestrian/bicycle ($15, valid for seven days)

The Tri-Park pass, which is an annual pass ($55) for Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park, Puʻuhonua o Hōnaunau National Historical Park, and Haleakalā National Park, must be purchased at the park entrance stations. All other National Park Service passes are available at the entrance station or online at: https://store.usgs.gov/pass/index.html. The new digital site pass is not available for commercial tours.

Visitors will continue to have the option to pay entrance fees with a credit card or cash at the entrance to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, but downloading the digital site pass in advance will save time. When visitation surges, especially during holidays, weekends and with increased eruption activity, lines to enter the park are long, sometimes stretching to Highway 11. The new digital site pass makes the process of entering the park quicker and easier for visitors and park staff.
