Power of a Job: We are looking for two Scrum Masters – Journey to support the Paid Leave and Long-Term Services and Support (LTSS) Divisions as a member of the Application Development Team. Your advanced agile project management expertise, knowledge of technology, and leadership skills will contribute to the build and enhancement of a large, complex, technology implementation of a new line of business. In this role, you will be a servant leader and a coach for a matrixed team of engineers to deliver quality software via an agile system development lifecycle. Your knowledge of agile practices will ensure work proposed for the development team is ready to work and you will help the team remove impediments while they deliver quality software iteration after iteration. You will also advocate for the team in interactions with key external stakeholders, such as business and other product and program management leadership.

Duties

As a Scrum Master, you will facilitate key planning processes to estimate the level of effort required to complete tasks, clarify dependencies and risks to building the product and ensure these expectations are clear to the team members and external stakeholders. During delivery sprints, you will keep the team coordinated and resolve or quickly escalate impediments, while collaborating and communicating with key program resources about changing conditions. You will also be relied upon to oversee the team's work outcomes and development of processes as you facilitate and drive record-keeping and reports on team outcomes and well-being. In addition, your ability to coach the team using agile principles will assist in building a healthy team and promoting continuous improvement of the team's processes. The position also collaborates with program leadership to give guidance and advice on development operations.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology with major coursework in data science, information technology, web development, or closely related field AND

  • Two (2) years of experience working in agile project management for software delivery.
  • Certified Scrum Master OR other Agile Project Management Certifications
  • Advanced knowledge of SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle), and Agile development methodologies.
  • Facilitation Skills
 
OR a combination of IT education and/or relevant IT experience equating to 6 years.

Desired Qualifications:
  • PMP or PMI-ACP
  • Working knowledge of Azure Dev Ops

Insurance Benefits

Retirement and Deferred Compensation
 
State Employees are members of the Washington Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS).  New employees have the option of two employer contributed retirement programs.  For additional information, check out the Department of Retirement Systems' web site.
 
Employees also have the ability to participate in the Deferred Compensation Program (DCP).  This is a supplemental retirement savings program (similar to an IRA) that allows you control over the amount of pre-tax salary dollars you defer as well as the flexibility to choose between multiple investment options.
 
Vacation (Annual Leave)
 
You begin accruing vacation starting your first month of employment. Since we value your loyalty, the amount of vacation you can accrue increases the longer you work with us. Washington State supports members of the armed forces with 21 days paid military leave per year. Vacation accrues for full-time employees per WAC 357-31-165.
