Getting Ready for NIC Webinars and Virtual Instructor Led Training (VILT)

What is the cost for NIC Webinars and/or VILTs?

As with all NIC training, there are no tuition or fees associated with NIC webinars or VILTs.

How Do I Participate Effectively In a WebEx Webinar or Virtual Instructor Led Training (VILT) Series?
How Do I Get Ready?

To attend an NIC Webex Webinar or NIC VILT session, you will need an internet-enabled computer. This is usually a laptop or desktop, but can also be a smartphone or tablet. We also recommend using headphones or earbuds with a microphone. You will need to install the Webex Browser Extension or App if you have not done so already.

For optimum learning, be in a quiet place, free from distractions / interruptions, sight-and sound separated from others, where you can concentrate on what is happening during the webinar / VILT session. A separate office space with a door to close is an ideal setting. You can connect to the session using your device or separately via a telephone.

Test your computer system compatibility prior to the webinar / VILT session here https://www.webex.com/test-meeting.html. If your browser does not pass the test, contact Webex Technical Support at 1-877-669-1782 and tell them you will be attending an NIC webinar on NIC's Webex site at https://nicmeetings.webex.com. They can help you troubleshoot connectivity issues.

NIC strongly recommends consulting with your agency / local IT department, as you may encounter pop-up blocking and/or firewall issues that block the NIC Webex webinar / VILT session url and your ability to connect to this session.

What If I Experience Difficulty During the Webinar and/or VILT session?

Contact Webex Technical Support at 1-877-669-1782 and tell them you are attending an NIC webinar and/or VILT session on NIC's Webex site at https://nicmeetings.webex.com . They can help you troubleshoot connectivity issues.

We strongly recommend you work with your agency / local IT in advance of the webinar / VILT session as it may be an agency firewall / security setting preventing you from connecting.

Follow the link in your VILT session reminder from messenger@webex.com then join the audio connection so you can hear the VILT facilitators and fellow participants. Please begin logging in 15 minutes prior to the start time as the session will start on time.

Will I Receive a Certificate for a VILT / VILT series?
What if it is a part of a blended program (Instructor Led Training and VILT) combination?

Yes. Registration for all NIC VILTs run through the NIC Learn Center. When you complete the VILT, whether it is a part of a blended (ILT + VILT) NIC program or a VILT series, your attendance is noted in NIC’s Learn Center. Your certificate will be available at the conclusion of the blended program and/or VILT series.

Do I have to attend all VILT sessions to complete a VILT series if it has multiple sessions?
What happens if I miss one?

Yes, you do. All VILT sessions and intersession work in between each VILT session comprise the VILT series. You will complete the series by attending all interactive VILT sessions and completing intersession work between sessions. If you miss one VILT session or fail to complete intersession work, you will not complete the series. NIC does not offer makeup sessions, as there is required intersession work in between each VILT session and each session builds into the next.
