Hennepin County is a vibrant blend of 45 cities that includes the city of Minneapolis (known as the “City of Lakes”), attractive suburbs, and peaceful small town settings. Minneapolis is the county seat. Hennepin County is the largest of Minnesota’s 87 counties in population and budget, serving over 1.3 million residents, approx. 1/5 of Minnesota’s population.     Hennepin County's Mental Health Center (MHC) within Human Services Public Health (HSPH) is offering an opportunity for a Senior Psychiatric Social Worker to provide outpatient clinical assessment and treatment services to adults with psychiatric and/or substance use disorders as a member of MHC’s multidisciplinary treatment team. The Mental Health Center is a state-licensed community mental health clinic. The MHC’s team of support and provider professionals provides comprehensive outpatient mental health services to adults with serious mental illness as well as those with co-occurring substance use disorders. Additionally, MHC serves children, adolescents, and families, many of whom are involved with other county programs. Our recent certification as a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) is allowing us to advance our goals of service excellence and the provision of personalized, coordinated, equitable care for persons we serve. The Placement Support team was developed to assist in stabilizing children with their current caregivers and additionally to support foster providers with new youth placements.   The placement support team supports children who are initially placed in out of home placement to meet their immediate needs. We use a quality parenting initiative approach (QPI) which is a national movement for foster care change, made up of a network of states, counties and private agencies committed to ensuring that all children in care have excellent parenting and lasting relationships.
