Description

Office hours

Join the DHS Waiver Reimagine project team for open office hours to discuss and understand the recent changes to Minnesota’s waiver programs. We will provide updates and review some common questions received about how to implement changes related to the simplified service menu.

During open office hours, we will:

  • Review the Waiver Reimagine project and provide updates on current and future work
  • Answer frequently asked questions received about the simplified service menu
  • Share tools/resources (e.g., crosswalk of changes, briefcase policy pages, etc.)
  • Provide time for questions from attendees
  • Outline next steps in the project (i.e., trainings, stakeholder engagement and outreach)
  • Provide information about how to stay connected and receive updates.

Background

In 2019, the Minnesota Legislature authorized DHS to streamline services and simplify the service menu for people who access services through Minnesota’s disability waiver programs:

  • Brain Injury (BI)
  • Community Alternative Care (CAC)
  • Community Access for Disability Inclusion (CADI)
  • Developmental Disabilities (DD).

The simplified service menu changes:

  • Make programs more understandable for people who use services
  • Align benefits across waiver programs for people with disabilities (including consistent limits and allowable services)
  • Create more consistent policies and procedures for lead agencies and providers.

Learning objectives

After this session, participants will be able to:

  • Understand how to implement service plans with streamlined services.
  • Identify where to find current policy information in the Community-Based Services Manual (CBSM).
  • Identify where to find updates on current and future Waiver Reimagine work.
  • Know which areas of DHS to contact with questions about implementation of the streamlined services.
