Description
The Iowa Intermediary Network, the Iowa Department of Education, and Iowa PBS invite you to join this statewide marketing challenge.

The project will consist of students developing a logo / branding concept for their town, community, county, local economic development group or local chamber of commerce.

To build foundational knowledge, Iowa PBS is sharing a video on how brand development works in their organization:

Also, the Iowa Intermediary Network and the Iowa Business Council will host a live, free webinar event that will bring industry professionals in front of the student audience to talk about their occupation. What they do and how they do it. What excites them about their day-to-day work. Their successes and their lessons learned.
Live Event Date & Time: March 22, 2021 at 1:30 PM.

After that, teachers can take part in the optional statewide logo challenge.
Logos can be created by an individual student, by groups, or as a whole class. Multiple logos can be made and then the best one can be selected to submit. Each class can have only one submission.
The logos will be submitted and showcased here:
https://clearinghouse.futurereadyiowa.gov/statewide-challenge/challenge-submission-page/
as well as possibly on statewide and local social media pages and websites.

The project offers a great opportunity for students to engage with the business partner they are working with (chamber, economic development group, tourism board, etc.) They can discuss what makes their area unique and appealing, how to market it and how that could guide their logo design or re-design.

Logo / Brand Concept Guidelines:
- Uses elements of design knowledge and incorporates key components of community to make the logo unique.
- Generates target market appeal.
- Digital logo submissions must be unique to the design of the student, and cannot be from an online logo generator.
- Submission includes past logo and newly created logo. (if there is no previous logo, this needs to be stated)
- Written design statement will also be submitted to describe creative decisions, inspirations and meanings.

This experience will focus on:
