This training module will help you better understand the purpose for, the structure of, and some meaningful ways to use the Strand Maps. Those participating in this training module will gain a better understanding of how to use the Strand Maps as a tool to teach and assess the Social Studies standards.

-The intended purpose of the K-12 Social Studies Strand Maps
-The structure and elements of the K-12 Social Studies Strand Maps

This module will focus on some of the most meaningful uses for the classroom teacher and the curriculum leader.
Agenda: This on-demand training module will follow the agenda outlined here:

1) Defining a Strand, Strand Map, and the purpose of both

2) Where to find the Strand Maps

3) Compare the Structure of the Old Social Studies Strand Maps to the New Strand Maps
- Becoming familiar with the new structure and enhanced function of the Strand Maps

4) Activity: Using the the two new columns of the Strand Maps

5) Activity: SCAVENGER HUNT - Using the QR Code or Bitly, participants will spend time
becoming familiar with the new Strand Maps and how to use them by engaging in a
Scavenger Hunt activity.
