Supports Intensity Scale - Adult Version® (SIS-A)®

The SIS-A is a standardized assessment tool designed to measure the pattern and intensity of supports that a person aged 16 years and older with intellectual disability requires to be successful in community settings.

Reliability and Validity

  • SIS (2004) and SIS-A (2015) normed with a culturally diverse group of over 1,300 people with intellectual and developmental disabilities aged 16 to 72 from 33 U.S. states and two Canadian provinces.
  • SIS-A, 2nd ed. (2023) normed using over 150,000 assessment records of culturally diverse group of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities aged 16 to 84 using publicly-funded supports.
  • The psychometric properties of this instrument are documented in peer reviewed journals around the world.
