A new research study from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources’ Lake St. Clair Fisheries Research Station looked at the smallmouth bass population to explore what might contribute to its success. The moose are loose – collaborative study tracks collared moose in western UP

To better understand why Michigan's population has faltered, researchers recently embarked on an exciting study to investigate the movements and mortality of moose in the western Upper Peninsula. Wildlife researchers from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, Keweenaw Bay Indian Community and Northern Michigan University recently fitted 20 moose with GPS collars to track their location.

'Wardens,' featuring Michigan DNR, kicks off ninth season

Since 2016, the Outdoor Channel series "Wardens" has highlighted the work of Michigan Department of Natural Resources conservation officers and other DNR employees, providing an inside look at what staff throughout the department does to conserve, protect and manage Michigan’s natural and cultural resources. The DNR continues its partnership with the channel on production of the show's 2025 season. New episodes begin Friday, Feb. 14, and air on the Outdoor Channel Fridays at 9 p.m. ET.
