Oregon state agencies and local governments are working together to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from transportation to 80% below 1990 levels by 2050.

We’ve been working to reduce emissions from transportation for over a decade. In 2018, the data showed Oregon was off track from meeting the 2050 goal, so the group adjusted policies and made new investments.

The 2022 data revealed Oregon is much closer to the 2050 goal, but more work needs to be done. Visit the About the Plan page to learn about the plan underlying the goal, how the data is collected, and how reducing emissions will benefit Oregon.

Emissions reduction progress

Oregon Transportation greenhouse gas emissions, 1990 to 2050. All rise 32% to 2015. 2018 Plans and Trends scenario shows 6% drop in 2050. 2022 Plans and Trends is 57%. STS Vision is 64% drop by 2050. 6 Categories of actions needed to fill the gap.

To reach the goal, we’re working in six transportation categories to reduce growth in vehicle miles traveled, and to clean up each vehicle mile. Click each tile below to learn more about each category. Learn more about the plan to reduce emissions.
