Municipal Court's Court in the Community offers warrant forgiveness

Fort Worth Municipal Court is hosting a Court in the Community/Warrant Forgiveness event from 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, Sept. 16, at Heritage Church of Christ, 4201 Heritage Trace Parkway.
Who’s it for: Anyone who has outstanding citations with the Fort Worth Municipal Court is invited to appear at a municipal court location or Court in the Community event, without fear of arrest for their cases. Attendees can resolve their outstanding cases and may be eligible for alternatives such as community service or a reduction in their fine based on ability to pay.
Fifty reserved spots and 70 walk-in spots are available at the Sept. 16 event. To register or for more information, call 817-392-6700.
“I encourage anyone who has an outstanding citation with the Fort Worth Municipal Court to contact us immediately so we can provide options to move those cases to a final resolution,” said Court Director William Rumuly. “We are a Safe Harbor Court, meaning we do not arrest persons who come voluntarily to see us on their outstanding cases.”

Community partners offering additional services
- The City of Fort Worth EnVision Center and Community Action Partners will also be onsite to help with rent, past-due rent, utilities and past-due utility payments. To learn more about the EnVision Center and related services, contact Suzanne Richards by email or at 817-392-2591.
- Goodwill North Central Texas will be at the event with employment opportunities, job placement services, one-on-one career counseling and job readiness skills training, including resume writing, interviewing skills and job search techniques. Q: Is this only for Fort Worth citations?
A: Yes, for any Class C criminal case filed with the Court such as traffic violations, ordinance violations and penal code violations through the issuance of a citation.
Q: What is Safe Harbor?
A: Fort Worth is a Safe Harbor Court, meaning residents can always visit a Fort Worth Municipal Court location without fear of arrest for outstanding warrants issued by the Fort Worth Municipal Court.
Q: What if my Fort Worth case has been referred to a collection agency?
A: Residents can still participate in the Warrant Forgiveness program.
