Auntie Pam’s To the Rescue for Homeless Young Mum

A young teenage mum with two small children was recently left homeless when her mum turned her out on the street. The challenge was to rehouse this vulnerable family as quickly as possible in furnished accommodation.

How did they do this?

Her Auntie Pam’s volunteer linked up with the Dewsbury COVID19 response team, the Salvation Army, Rainbow Baby Bank and a very understanding local landlord to find accommodation and support to provide for her children.

They needed to act quickly, whilst social distancing and working remotely to make sure the young woman had the support she needed.

As a result of this speedy collaboration across multiple organisations, this young family are now housed and furnished.

What’s next for the family?

Her Auntie Pam’s volunteer continues to support them through further needs linking them with local agencies and support to help them find their feet and start to thrive.

We want to say a massive thank you to the team at Auntie Pam’s who continue to provide vital support to residents in this challenging time!
