Summary/Background (Key Points):
As a part of FCPS’s response to COVID-19, cross-departmental work groups were established to support essential functioning and response to the pandemic. The Return to School/Extension of School Year and Instructional Delivery work groups are tasked with making recommendations regarding instruction and any required or optional services that FCPS will provide over the summer, as well as coordinating overall planning for return to school.
This presentation incorporates the work of several subcommittees of central office and school staff, as well as critical input and feedback from key parent and teacher stakeholder groups. The purpose of the return to school discussion will be to:
- Review key considerations impacting decisions for reopening schools
- Provide options for summer programming to support continuity of learning for all students and targeted intervention services
- Discuss scenarios for fall learning to address student learning loss and social-emotional needs
