The Women's Council promotes initiatives to empower women, serves as a clearinghouse for information on programs and resources, conducts research on the status of women, and engages in unique partnerships to address barriers and inequalities affecting Wisconsin women. The Women's Council is comprised of 15 members appointed by the Governor and Legislative leaders.

Women's Council Turns 40!

Last year, the Wisconsin Women's Council reached a milestone - we celebrated our 40th Anniversary!

Since 1983, we have been working to advance women's equality and economic security.

Babies born to Black mothers die at a rate more than twice (10.8 per 1,000 births) the rate for white babies (4.6 per 1,000 births) in the U.S. Learn more about this issue and efforts to improve outcomes.

Money Smart Wisconsin Week - Women's Council Webinar Series
In Wisconsin, the Governor's Council on Financial Literacy and Capability, in partnership with the Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions (DFI), is spearheading the Money Smart Wisconsin campaign along with many volunteers and organizations throughout the state.

The Women's Council is part of this coalition, and during that week, we are hosting two FREE public webinars focused on providing education about women's economic security.

Monday, April 8, 2024 at Noon - Webinar 1: Financial Empowerment for Women
This webinar will encourage women to evaluate their relationship with money and take the first step toward more proactively managing their investments. The presentation highlights the red flags of investment fraud, outlines how to investigate before investing and offers tips and tricks to face any financial transition with confidence.

This webinar will look at how women are faring with being financial ready and secure in retirement and how to meet their financial needs as they get older. Issues of pay equity, wage gaps, wealth gaps, and time away from the workforce all contribute to retirement savings gaps and women experiencing economic insecurity in their golden years.
